In case you missed it the October KAL, kicked off last Saturday with winding 5 skeins of Studio Donegal Soft for my Dacite cardigan. Boy, it is turning out to be a whopper of a knit. I am currently knitting the body and the sleeves are on holders and it just wants to fly off the needles. Which is great because the weather is really turning chilly at night now.
My memory is also failing me now because I was sure I would have enough in stash yarn for this knit but I am going to try and hunt down another skein. I’m into my third skein now and I have two sleeves to do (I’m guessing 1 skein per sleeve) and I haven’t yet reached the darts in the back. The knitter warning bells are going off in my head.
I have also queued up Stannum in Townhouse Yarns Grafton 4ply in Myst. Just look at the tones in that grey! (Psst, you can pick up a discount code over on the podcast) I will cast on in the next day or so. I was going to finish Dacite first but my hands are really tired and the garment is starting to get really heavy now, so I need to alternate to give my wrists a break.
Oh you want a close up of the fabulous yarn? Let me help with that, go on stroke your screen no one is looking…………
If time allows I would also like to get in a toddler knit but I think I might be pushing it a little, but we all work best with deadlines, no? I have had my eye on Eilonwy for a very long time now and of course there is a new superwash DK that I haven’t tried in TIK but it is also the knitting and stitching show soon. You see where my mind is going right? So I guess this one has a pin in it for now and we will see where October takes me from here.
Over on the group on Ravelry, acotter posted this picture of her Watermelon Socks and I just had to have them. Watermelon self striping sock yarn with seeds? What is this new found magical yarn? Where do I find it? Oh yes, I snooped around online to find this Abi Grasso yarn and behold the Etsy shop of Artistic Yarn by Abi. Now the neopolitan ice-cream skeins had me at hello and there is even sparkly Christmas sock yarn. I can actually hear you clicking your Knitmas wish lists as you read.
This will be stash yarn for me as my knitting until the end of 2016 is pretty much planned out between the current KAL and the coming November KAL (this is a tough one for me, November is a busy month) and who can forget about KNITMAS! So maybe I might get to them around the Christmas holidays.
Oh yes I have mentioned Knitmas and if you haven’t gone over to Twitter and Elfster, why not? If your an Irish Twitter Knitter you have heard of the joy of Knitmas, you have seen it’s magic. This year the girls in Knitmas HQ are working away and have even started an IG account. I am excited *insert video of me shaking with baited breath, but no one wants to see me in my pj’s.
There are lots of things to come and some super secret plans for the podcast which I hope you all enjoy. If your joining in the KAL please share some pics in the group or on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. If you use the hashtags #stolenstitches or #CottageKAL then we can see what your up to if I miss a post. Go on show me your wips, I’m dying to see them!
