Hello and welcome to the podcast. Episode 5 is finally here and joining me at the cottage today is the lovely Gillan Harkness of Mina Loves Designs. We chat about her new Rios Rocks collection, photography, secret yarn stashes and how she went from knitter to budding designer. I also announce the winner of the wonderful prize from Evin O’K from Episode 4.
It’s time for you to put the kettle on, grab your knitting and make yourself comfortable. Today’s show is a fun filled 40 minutes with a little giveaway thrown in at the end. So, come on and let’s meet the lovely Gillian Harkness.
Gillian started out blogging in 2009 around the same time she joined Ravelry. Like so many of us, Gillian has been harbouring the urge to design her own patterns and in today’s episode you can find out where it all began and how Gillian made that leap to releasing her own designs and her new collection Rios Rocks on Ravelry.
Gillian’s love of photography comes across both in her pattern photographs but also in her beautiful sweeping landscape pictures and her ‘Places Where You Can Knit’ feature that you can see over on her Instagram account. We chat about where this all began and Gillian’s other hobbies that help her relax and enjoy life to the fullest.
From listening to the interview you can tell just how much Gillian loves designing and her passion for using luxury yarns from Independent Yarn Dyers and supporting local people in the craft community. Find out just how much Hedgehog Fibers is hiding in her stash and how using knitting as therapy has helped her focus on building her career. Gillian also as a special giveaway for listeners of the podcast, tune in to find out more.
