As the summer rolls in I aways get excited about lazy sunny days and knitting and spinning outdoors. I dream about World Wide Knit in Public Day (WWKIP) which is held on June 10th this year, as I get to sit and chat in person with all the knitters I get to interact with online each day. Last week I received a lovely email from Juliet of UK Hand Knitting and I wanted to share it with all of you. though there will of course be events taking place for the month of June.
Last year UK Hand Knitting declared June Commit To Knit Month, asking knitters and crocheters across the UK to make just one item for a charity. There were events all over the UK, many on Worldwide Knit In Public Day, some in local libraries, some in yarn shops and even pubs and cafes. With nearly 70 events in its first year, the campaign was a great success. This year UK Hand Knitting will once again be running Commit To Knit Month in June focussing on Worldwide Knit In Public Day on Saturday, June 10th though there will, of course, be events taking place for the month of June.
The lovely people at Simply Knitting have created a wonderful supplement that goes on sale on May 26th and UK Hand Knitting have ordered extra to send out to anyone hosting an event. The supplement is packed full of patterns suitable for charities as well as ideas on how to use them. Signing up for more information couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is just to follow this link and they will be able to send you posters and supplements.
If you want to find out more about Commit to Knit then pop on over here and sit down with a cuppa and learn how you can make a difference. For my Irish readers, I will be back a little bit later with more information on events closer to you.
