Waiting – As soon as I saw the title for this week’s photo challenge, I started to hum this song. I really couldn’t get it out of my head so I stole a few verses from Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer to move between the images below.
In all the photos that I have taken, the ones that show waiting have been on the coast. Although our home on the coastline has changed over the years, we have always taken pictures of Ireland’s east coast. So, it seems fitting to answer the challenge with exactly that. We walked the coastline as we waited for our wedding day. We walked the coast when we waited for our settled married life to start. We walked the shore as we tried to find a home to call ‘ours’. We walked the sandy beaches waiting for our first child to be born and we walked the beaches when we needed to put that same unsettled child to sleep. It feels like our entire life so far was spent waiting by the sea.
Me and all my friends
We’re all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There’s no way we ever could
Now we see everything that’s going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don’t have the means
To rise above and beat it
So we keep waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
It’s not that we don’t care,
We just know that the fight ain’t fair
So we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
And we’re still waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting, waiting on the world to change
One day our generation Is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting Waiting on the world to change
