Along with all of you busy elves, my projects that have been finished can’t be shown for another few days while the excitement of Knitmas is underway. I did take photos before and after the wrapping of my gift, so I can’t wait until my elf receives her package, I just wish I could see the expression on her face when she gets it. So to keep my lips sealed and to treat myself, I joined the wonderful Mealong which is happening over on the APlayfulDay group on Ravelry.
This is my first time working with Malabrigo Mecha and boy was it fun. It’s soft, sleek and knits up like butter on my Symfonie needles. I was rather surprised by this yarn as it is a superwash yarn but that sticky sleekness that you get with their Rios yarn is gone. Instead this yarn feels more like their merino worsted which was a joy to work with but felted easily. I’m so glad that I gave this a go and have to thank the wonderful Jenny Sisk from This is Knit for the inspiration!
The pattern is the gorgeous Kernmantle by Woollywormhead and is available for download from Ravelry. I absolutely love the ease of the pattern and then the very beautiful hidden crown shaping in the cable, what a treat. I thought I would hate all that moss stitch but I loved working with the yarn so much I just fell in love with this project and I didn’t want to put it down.
Also if you haven’t treated yourself after the bustle of Knitmas, do have a look at the PlayfulDay group. Her podcasts are wonderful and the following on Ravelry and Twitter is fun and welcoming and if you are just being introduced to these then your Christmas is sorted and your in for a treat!
Now, I do here the rustling of a waking baby, I have the suspicion that their will be a call for food in the next few minutes! If you have a blog post on the Kernmantle or are joining in the Mealong then leave a link in the comments and I’ll pop on over and have a look, I love inspiration!
Till next time,
